Morgantown

Morgantown is located at the intersection of State Road 252 and State Road 135, right at the corner where Morgan, Johnson and brown Counties meet. is the very definition of a quaint, small town. The population hovers just under 1,000 residents and the main corridor through town features cute historic storefronts and locally-owned eateries.

Colonel Vawter Day is held in mid-September each year in Morgantown.

Known For:

Founded in 1831, Morgantown boasts a Historic District that's listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The town hosts a Memorial Parade each May the Sunday before memorial Day Weekend and celebrates Colonel Vawter Day each September. Colonel John Vawter was one of the early settlers of Morgantown and the annual Colonel Vawter Day celebration pays homage to the heritage of the community with vendor booths, a car show, contests, activities and demonstrations. Morgantown has long been known as a stopping point along the scenic, traditional route to Brown County from Indianapolis and other points north. The perfect place to stop for a meal, or a short walk to stretch your legs, Morgantown is still a popular breakpoint for those traveling to and from Brown County (especially those traveling via motorcycle).
